We have come to the end of our first season at Fieldgate and we have enjoyed every minute. Our visitors have all been so friendly and it has been fascinating to chat to them and find out about past camping experiences. We also learned a lot about the local area. We haven’t had much of a chance to go off exploring, so it was great when campers came back to tell us about their various walks and bike rides from Fieldgate through to Pagham, or to Selsey.
Walking along the canal from Hunston into Chichester is something that we have done a couple of times. The walk is so varied, with the chance to see herons, canal boats, and the famous view that JMW Turner painted. (No that’s not it below – but it’s pretty all the same…)
One couple spent a wonderful fortnight exploring the local area by bus – going as far as Brighton – and thoroughly recommended the freedom it gave them. Especially with the bus stop just outside the campsite!
We have had birdwatchers too – with the Pagham and Medmerry nature reserves just a short distance away, there was plenty of opportunity to spot something of interest.
We have closed up now, but we are looking forward to greeting people from 1st April 2015. Let’s hope it’s a warm, dry spring – followed by a warm, dry summer!
Enjoy a cosy winter and we look forward to seeing you next year.
