It seems amazing that we have arrived in August already. We have had the most fantastic weather throughout June and July and we feel so lucky to be living on a campsite, and it seems that our campers feel the same way.
We have busy with lots of lovely people arriving and it is great to see the field with caravans and awnings and people just enjoying the sunshine and relaxing – perfect. Everyone is so friendly, it gives us a chance to meet so many new people – and we’re trying hard to remember everyone’s name!
At the end of July, Sidlesham held its summer fete. We had heard about it from people in the village and knew that it would be worth a visit. We were right! There was music, plenty of fun and games for children and some beautiful calves to look at. We tried to guess the age of the two calves, but we must have got it wrong as we haven’t had a phone call to say we won the prize of some of Caroline’s ice-cream – such a shame!
We have also had lots of friends visiting us, which has been great. Several evenings it has been so warm that we have sat outside after a barbecue, until really late, with no need for a cardigan or socks! Heaven!
The area is getting very busy now with the arrival of the school holidays, but the good thing about being in Sidlesham is that you can cut across the peninsula to get easy access to Bracklesham Bay and East and West Wittering. West Wittering beach is beautiful. Great stretches of sand, with shallow water that is ideal for paddling for those who are not too keen on waves, plus loads of space for parking, and green areas for picnics or a game of ball.
Itchenor Harbour is also worth a visit. It’s a pretty little harbour and you can spend a happy hour or so there just watching the little sail boats bobbing around – very relaxing…
